NEW YEAR, NEW YOU

With the new year come the new year resolutions. The goals that we set to become better people; or make us feel better, “I’ll be more kind this year.”, or “I’m going to hit the gym more often this year.”. We usually start off strong and then life starts to get in the way. Our commitment to our resolutions starts to wind down. There seems to be a similar pattern in the churches, as the pews appear more full at the beginning of the year. Proverbs 16:3 tells us, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.”.
Do you think that maybe our goals are a bit unrealistic? This may in fact be part of the problem. Our resolutions may fit our life schedule at the beginning of the year. As life progresses, things and circumstances change, we get a promotion, go back to school, kids sports, etc… We need to make equal changes to our goals. If we can’t make it to the gym as much, we can take on some other smaller exercises that we can do around the office, or during those commercial breaks in our favorite shows.
With these mini computers that we carry every day, we have the ability to download a bible app. There are multiple versions, we recommend trying them all and choose the one you like best. We can quite literally read the bible on our phone with these apps. If we have an extra busy day, we can listen to the bible being read to us in the app while we drive. You can set a plan to read the entire bible in set amount of time. Participate in bible studies, seminars, and pastors will break down verses and explain the meaning of the verse.
It seems that most businesses are open on Sunday, this will make it difficult to attend church if you have to work. Maybe instead of attending church on Sunday morning, try an evening worship. Attend a bible study during the week. We have the technology now to attend church and worship virtually. Most churches will live stream their worship services. They also make them available on social media, or their website for you to view later when you get a moment.

The bottom line is this, with the technologies that we have available to us, worshiping has never been more accessible. There really is not an excuse for skipping out on church, or not staying caught up on reading the scripture. Hebrews 13:15 says, “Through Him let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge His name”.
So, for your own sake, read the bible, say those prayers, and attend church virtually if you cannot attend in person. We here at Created Outdoors implore you to make the effort to build and grow your relationship with Christ our God. If you take these steps this new year, then there will in fact be a new you. Until next time, stay blessed.
