Tis The Season

We are days away from Christmas. The last-minute shoppers are out in abundance, lead foot drivers, and the manners are mostly out the window. As we head out into the chaos of the public, where the stress is high, we need to remember to pray for the strength to behave the way God wants us to. God tells us in Luke 6:37, “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven”.
It seems that we have gotten away from the true meaning of Christmas in the modern culture. It’s as if that everyone is more caught up with what gifts they are getting for Christmas, rather than celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. It is nice to be appreciated, and gifts can convey that message. So, how do we show God our appreciation for his blessings, grace, and forgiveness? We can start by praying regularly. The connection with God through daily prayer builds our relationship with Him, and also grows our appreciation for our blessings provided by Him.

Acting accordingly is another way that we can show our Lord our thankfulness for the blessings in our lives. Treating others with love and respect. Making that conscious decision to forgive those that cross us, especially if we struggle with holding grudges. Remember, during the Christmas season that we celebrate the one true Savior Jesus Christ, the spiritual warfare is at its highest. People will not be themselves. Acting from emotion, and the stress that has been placed upon them from the negative enemy. There is no point in getting caught up in the negative confrontations, Proverbs 15:1 says, “A gentle response defuses anger, while harsh words escalate it.”.
So, as society dwells on the gifts that they will give, and receive this Christmas, maybe we should dwell on the real reason for the season? As we get together with friends and family, let us remember to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The beautiful reality of the blessings that have been bestowed upon us, with those we are blessed to have in our lives. Tis the season for blessings and celebration of our Lord Jesus.
Until next time, stay blessed. From all of us here at Created Outdoors, Merry Christmas!
