BEAUTY IN SNOW

When we get the opportunity to sit in the deer stand, or even the duck blind in the snow, it just adds to the beauty in nature. God is really blessing us with a breath-taking view. Is there a sign hidden in that view?

When we think of snow, we tend to bask in its bright, white, cleansing alure. It just adds to awe of God’s creation, and His goodness. It’s the opposite of evil, and sin. When we think of evil, and sin, we tend to think of dirt, grime, and disgust. In Psalm 51:7 it says, “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”.

There are benefits to hunting in the snow. With snow on the ground, food sources become more difficult to find. Deer will hit corn piles and feeders where legal. Winter food plots will be booming with activity. If you hunt a farm, you may be able to talk the farmer into leaving some standing crops to attract some late season bucks.

Of course, staying warm may be a challenge. Hunting from an elevated enclosed blind such as Oak Ridge Hunting Blinds is an option. Using a buddy heater in there would be dually beneficial, as you stay warm, the blind will mask some sound and movement. There is always the option of a heated vest or jacket as well.

As we sit in the stands, it allows us to see deer moving much farther away, than when there is not any snow accumulation. Along the same aspect, it also allows us to see their body language a bit more easily.

Any does that have not been bred will be coming into heat again periodically. Watching bucks chase does is always beautiful, but seeing them chase does in the snow really is something special. As the snow highlights the blessing in the view.

For those of us here at Created Outdoors, we tend to feel closest to God in the deer stand, woods, field, really anywhere in the outdoors. Enjoying the creation provided by Christ, and expressing our thankfulness, and love for Jesus as we do it. Much like Jesus going off by himself to pray, and connect with His father. Having the one-on-one time with Christ is a necessity for growth in our relationship with our Lord Jesus. Mark 1:35 states, “And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, He departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.”

It’s that solitude of nature that removes us from the business of life. Matthew 14:23 says, “And after he had dismissed the crowds, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone.” Until next time, hunt hard and pray harder.
