THE REWARD IN GUIDANCE

It’s no secret that those of us here at Created Outdoors enjoy taking our kids hunting, and teaching the outdoors to any new enthusiasts willing to tag along. We cherish the memories made as we mentor others in the journey to their first deer, turkey, etc… More importantly, we enjoy sharing Gods beautiful creation with others.

Teaching the basics can be dull and boring. This in turn causes frustration. Understanding that everyone is different, and learn in many different ways; will assist you in creating new learning tools. Sharing photos of tracks, and other sign for the student to look for prior to going afield can give them something to look forward to. Also, using photos as a visual aid for shot angles and placements can help them prepare for that adrenaline rush of the shot moment.

While we strive to make it enjoyable for the beginning hunters, we tend to impose our own way as the best way. Allow them to ask questions, researching the answer to their question together can help you both learn. It will give an opportunity to bond over new knowledge. Don’t be afraid to learn from the student. 1 Corinthians 8:2 tells us, “Those who think they know something do not yet know what they ought to know.” Just because they do not have the same level of experience, does not mean they do not have something to teach.

Watching newer hunters become successful, and reach mile stones can be more rewarding than our own success. As we watch them grow, learn, and start to implement their knowledge, we tend to feel a sense of pride and happiness. As a teacher, we tend to remember these things more so, than other small details.  1 Peter 4:10 says, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”. A reward in guidance.

Until next time, hunt hard, and pray harder.
