Blessings of Father’s
It is Father’s Day. In the world, and culture that we live in, masculinity is seen as an offensive sin. Discipline, and truth are not acceptable, and accountability is out the window. What exactly is the role of a father?

Being a father truly is a blessing. Being able to see your wife give birth to a beautiful child that was created in the love that you share for each other. Watching them grow into toddlers, teenagers, then young men and women. There are many milestones that we all reach as we grow. Even still as a father.
Leadership is quite possibly the most important role that a father has. Leading by example will build a relationship with your children. Be willing to perform as you expect them to. This means admitting when you are wrong, asking forgiveness when needed, and confessing sins openly in prayer. No one person is perfect, but striving to be better will allow growth in your children. Praying with them will build their relationship with Christ. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 says, “And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”.
Being the protector is the second most important role that a father has. Being a protector does not only mean protecting your family from evil people, murderers, home invaders, etc… It means protecting them from the corrupt lies of society. Sin is sin, and that is all there is to it. While aggression, and violence are not usually the answer, we must remember that turning the other cheek is not always the correct answer either. Don’t try to argue with a fool, the argument will never end. Present with grace the word of God, the truth, and compassion, and Lord Jesus will see us through. Pray for the guidance to know how to handle each situation in a righteous manner. This way, your sons will learn how to protect their families as men. Your daughters will learn how to teach their sons to protect their families as men. Acts 20:28 states, “Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he has bought with his blood.”. Faith and forgiveness is the key to happiness.
Sacrifices are another way that a father will serve their family. Sacrificing buying new clothes for themselves so that their kids can have better. Sacrificing time at home to work over time to pay for extra curricular activities. Sacrificing sleep to make sure that the truck is packed, serviced, and safe for the family road trip. God sacrificed his only son Jesus Christ for all of our sins. There is no greater loyalty than a fathers, especially our Father God.

As a man, a father, and a servant of Christ; it is a responsibility to serve and protect your family. This requires an array of skill sets, discipline, and faith. As human beings we will not always get it right. We need to acknowledge that first and foremost. When it comes our family, and what is best for us all as a whole, seek the guidance of God our Father. Pray for forgiveness, strength, discipline, grace, and guidance.
So, celebrate your fathers more than just today. Celebrate them every day, and celebrate Christ every day. Without God, and your earthly father, you would not be here. As a father has a responsibility to be a leader, protector, and makes sacrifices daily for his children, these responsibilities are also the blessings of a father.
Until next time, pray hard.
