Choose to Serve

A modern growing trend seems to be taking over. It appears that the majority of society is becoming more and more selfish. It would appear that we have forgotten how to be happy for others, but mor importantly how to serve others. Galatians 5:13 says, “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh, rather, serve one another humbly in love.”.

When we look at the social media platforms, it is filled with photos of people living their perfect lives. From vacations, buying houses, vehicles, etc.. However, are these stories, or threads truthful? For most, they are not. It may seem perfect to those of us looking in from the outside, but we have no idea what occurs behind the scenes. The financial struggles, illnesses, and even domestic violence. We have all been guilty of it, especially when we are younger. Being jealous of those that have nicer cars, nicer places to live, nicer clothes. It seemed to never end. Wanting the return for work that had not been done. The reward for goodness that has not given.

As we get older, there is a chance for a few lessons that should be learned. Firstly, trust in God. Putting trust and faith in God will allow you to be where you are supposed to be on His timeline. When we think of what we need, is it really something that we need? Or is it just something that we think we need, but just want? God knows what we need to be in the place that he needs us to be. He will reward us as we need, and deserve. We are never alone when we are strong in faith. Our Loving Lord God will not allow us to go without. Hebrews 13:5 tells us, “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”.”.

Secondly, serve others. When we serve others out of love, we are acting as Jesus Christ wishes us to. We tend to be happier, kinder, and more loving in general. Making the conscious decision to be loving and kind to others, spreads the love and grace of God. Choose service before judgement. Choose kindness before anger. Choose forgiveness before condemnation and hatred. Colossians 3:12 says, “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”.

Until next time, remembserve others with kindness.
